Trip Overview
Crane Prairie Reservoir, and it's legendary “Cranebows”, hold a special place in our hearts. It's our favorite fishery in Central Oregon. The quality of these fish and their native roots are what we love and keep us chasing them day in and day out.. There are few places left where you can find large wild redband trout surrounded by snow capped mountains and sunken forests.
Crane Prairie is a massive shallow reservoir (avg10-15ft) built on an ancient confluence of the fabled Deschutes River and 3 nutrient rich rivers carving their way down from these volcanoes. This environment is what allows these wild fish to thrive and continue to pass down the same genetics you can still find in the Lower Deschutes. Brett Dennis, the founder of Stillwater, has been guiding Crane for over 20 years and knows the lake like the back of his hand. When someone says they want to experience the serenity and quality of fishing here in Central Oregon, this is where we take them. Crane Prairie still holds these legendary trout and always will, this continues to generate memorable experiences of joy and bliss year after year for anglers.
